The predicted weather event yesterday did little to dampen the enthusiasm of Auckland foodies as thousands flocked to Victoria Park, Auckland for the nation's premier food festival, Taste of Auckland, which finishes this afternoon.

The Grey Lynn Festival may have been cancelled, but under more than 7,000 metres of marquees, Taste of Auckland continues to shine with 11 restaurants and dozens of providores flat-out serving tapas style dishes.

By the close of the final session today, more than 20,000 visitors will have tasted their way around the park.

Festival Director, Rob Eliott says that with an improved forecast today he expects a busy final session.

"Taste of Auckland is a unique food event, and we're confident of a vibrant party atmosphere at Taste of Auckland throughout the afternoon," he said.
