LETTERS: This is not a super city

Many citizens of Franklin District may feel the same way, but I can only speak for myself, so here goes.
We are going to be raped and pillaged and I feel that John Key, Rodney Hide and the National-led Government are doing the raping and pillaging of our district, our assets, and everything our forebears worked their butts off for.
My uncle died on Christmas Day 1944 in a war on the other side of the world for freedom and democracy.
The [Government] has taken away and ignored our rights and there is no democracy.
How has this been done? Who will stand up for us? Who will listen to us? We don't want to be part of Auckland. Keep us out of Auckland.
It sickens me.

It was great to read that at least one publication in Auckland has come out with the truth about the so-called "Super City".
I am certain that if we were given the opportunity to have a referendum on the amalgamation of the greater Auckland areas/cities, you would find that the majority of people would say to central government - leave us alone.
We can easily see what is going to happen and we don't like what we see. The average person knows that it is going to be chaotic for the ratepayers, and a godsend for big business and developers/speculators.
We in the outlying areas like Hibiscus Coast will have virtually no say in what happens in our areas - it will all be controlled by the big boys in central Auckland.
Take a close look at the make-up of the Council-Controlled Organisations and the people who are determining their make-up. People who have very predetermined ideas.
I honestly believe that this move could be the undoing of our Prime Minister, John Key. He should not have brought this forward, and to add insult to injury, should never have appointed a "Social Credit" member (Rodney Hide) to be anywhere near this foolhearted action.
Mr Key is on "a hiding to nothing". So sad when we all thought that he would lead the country with a National Government, not act like a dictator with very minor parties calling the tunes on some very important matters.

Great editorial, mate. My thoughts exactly - except my version has more (a lot more) swear words describing the politicians and their traitorous acts involving stealing my democratic rights.
Myself have used the correlation between what National is doing and what Adolf Hitler did by riding roughshod over what the citizens actually want. Time to get rid of them. If it takes the same treatment as it took to get rid of the Nazis then so be it.
