Auckland Transport has cut fares on its new Hobsonville and Beach Haven ferry service to try to boost patronage, which is running below 80 passengers trips a day.

Cash fares between Hobsonville and central Auckland are down to $8 each way, from an initial $12, and trips from Beach Haven now cost $6 compared with $8 previously.

The new fares will apply until May 24, and Hop card users receive a 10 per cent discount.
