Breakers' success works against Auckland teams

Breakers forward Dillon Boucher believes their success works against Auckland teams trying to survive in the New Zealand Basketball League.

Boucher's Auckland Pirates have withdrawn from next year's NBL, believing their financial model is unsustainable.

He says it's difficult for teams from the Super City to get commercial support.

"It's a tough thing when you've got the Breakers, you've got that mould sitting here that soaks up a lot of the sponsorship and on TV every week it's hard to compete with that in the New Zealand league."

Boucher says he's still holding out hope an Auckland side will play in the league as another consortium is trying to get a team up and running.
